UPenn Football Player Found Dead

Wharton student was found in his off-campus apartment.

A University of Pennsylvania student was found dead inside his off-campus home Monday.

Owen Thomas, a Wharton junior and member of the Penn football team, was found dead at 2 p.m., university officials say.

Officials don't believe foul play was involved, but are continuing to investigate the cause of death.

Thomas, of Allentown, graduated from Parkland High School, where he was a three-year letter-winner and captain for two years, according to the team handbook. His older brother, Matt, was also a member of Penn's football team and graduated in 2002.

The 6-foot-2, 240-pound defensive end was voted one of Quakers' captains earlier this month. He was a second-team All-Ivy player in 2009, starting all 10 Penn games, recording 29 tackles and finishing second in the league with six sacks.
