A Trenton Police officer has been arrested and charged with having sex with a 14-year-old girl, according to the Mercer County Prosecutor’s Office.
Officer Lisandro Otero-Ortiz, 25, was arrested Saturday on charges of second-degree sexual assault.
The sexual assault allegedly took place in Trenton in June while Otero-Ortiz was off-duty and after he and the young girl consumed a quantity of alcohol, the prosecutor’s office says.
The alleged crime was reported Friday and Otero-Ortiz was taken into custody Saturday night with $50,000 bail set.
Otero-Ortiz, a four-year police veteran, was suspended without pay and forbidden from having any guns or weapons and from having contact with the 14-year-old girl.
