Kensington Ex-Con Charged With Killing Girlfriend

Gina Schickling's body was found behind an abandoned house

“Friends and family -- Gina is dead.”

A grieving father’s Facebook page was how many loved ones learned that the lifeless body of Philadelphia native Gina Schickling had been discovered Monday night, almost a week after she was reported missing.

Two days later, live-in boyfriend Stephen Benford, 23, was charged with murder, according to Philadelphia Police.

Schickling’s body was found by police behind an abandoned house in Warren County, New Jersey.

A house that was once owned by her boyfriend’s parents.

Police said that Benford, an ex-con who pleaded guilty in 2006 to assault charges, stabbed Schickling, 22, multiple times after an argument last week, reports the Philadelphia Daily News.

The paper goes on to explain that Benford then purchased a trash can at Home Depot for the body and drove it to his parent’s old house.

The two had been together since April and lived in an apartment in Kensington.

“He looked like he was disturbed," one neighbor told the Daily News. "I didn't like his looks."
