Irv Homer, one of the men that helped shape conservative talk radio in the Philadelphia region, died Wednesday night. He was 85, according to records.

Homer made a name for himself while hosting a talk radio show on WWDB from 1975 to 2000.

He collapsed on stage while making remarks at Eastern University. He was later pronounced dead from an apparent heart attack at Bryn Mawr hospital, according to KYW 1060.

He worked right up until the end hosting his show on WBCB Wednesday afternoon.

Homer was best known as a radio host but he also made numerous TV appearances and even ran as the Libertarian Vice-Presidential candidate in 1972, according to Philly.com.

Homer showed his softer side with his work for the Sunshine Foundation where he served on the board.
