A homeless man was shot and killed by police Friday morning near City Hall, according to officials.

At around 8:30 a.m. police noticed the 60-year-old man acting strangely. They called for assistance, but the man charged the officers with a knife, police said.

Police told him to drop the knife, but he refused to do so--that's when police shot him in the torso, officials said.

The unidentified man was rushed to Hahnemann Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The officers involved in the shooting are both 20 year veterans of the force.
