Escaped Prisoner Nabbed in Harrisburg

Omar Roane has been on the run since busting out of a Philly PD van last Saturday

A weeklong manhunt for an accused killer who broke out of a Philadelphia Police transport van ended in the state's capital Friday.

Omar Roane, 22, has been on the run from authorities since last Saturday when he broke out of a police transport wagon in Mayfair.

The wagon was transporting Roane and seven other prisoners to the Curran-Fromhold Correctional Facility in Holmesburg when three men broke free at Frankford and Cottman Avenues.

Two of the prisoners were immediately apprehended, but Roane was able to get away. A citywide search for Roane ensued with the U.S. Marshalls Service eventually being called in to help.

The Marshalls apprehended Roane in Harrisburg, Pa. Friday afternoon. He was taken into custody without incident, officials say.

Roane has been jailed as he awaits trial for the murder of Kyree Young. Prosecutors allege he shot and killed the 17-year-old during a robbery in the Kingsessing section of Philadelphia in June 2009.

There's no word yet on additional charges related to the escape.
