Cruising for Sex in Philly
It's easy for flashers (or anyone) to find public places for promiscuity, or worse

Why does a guy go to a Macy's restroom at the Exton Mall to expose himself to a little boy? It could be random, but it could be that he purposely picked that place because it's listed online as a good spot for men to cruise for sex with other men.
In fact, on the Cruising for Sex Web site (warning: lots of graphic images), it's the only public place listed for Exton:
"Exton Mall. Cruisy toilet at on the second floor of Macy's." The last comment from January says, "The second floor sees some good action but watch for security."
Cruising for Sex has a collection of user-generated listings from all over the country of hot spots for gays "looking for places men congregate for hookups." Or you can do a quick search of the Craigslist personal ads and find yourself a place and a person for just about any fetish or favor, in no time at all.
The Craigslist ads are relatively new, but sex in Philly's public bathrooms has been going on for years. In the late 90's the NBC10 Investigators did a series of undercover stories called "Private Behavior in Public Places" that exposed what some men were doing in public bathrooms.
When you have episodes like the Exton Mall flasher, it's enough to kick a parent's worry-meter up a notch. A lot of 12-year-old boys go the restroom on their own. Let's face it, most would rather claw their eyes out than walk into a girl's restroom with their mother.
So with parents in mind and because we didn't want you to have to click through the unavoidable hard-core images, we scanned the list of public places to cruise for sex at malls and department stores. Consider the source and do keep in mind that we didn't personally stake out any of these spots ourselves:
- King of Prussia Mall: Bathroom in the hardware department of Sears and another on the second floor of J.C. Penney.
- Granite Run Mall: Bathroom in Boscov's on the second floor.
- Macy's, on Chestnut Street, Philadelphia: Third floor bathroom.
- Franklin Mills Mall: Men's room near Jillian's.
- Montgomeryville Mall: First floor bathroom in Macy's.
- Oxford Valley Mall: Second floor bathroom in Macy's.
- Willow Grove Park Mall: First floor bathroom near the elevator.
