Monday, Camden reached the daunting slot of number two in the nation’s most-dangerous cities, right behind New Orleans

Philadelphia improved on the scale coming in at 22 as opposed to 21 from last year's stats.

However, crime just continues to worsen across the Walt Whitman Bridge. In previous years, Camden ranked No. 5 in 2004 and 2005.

The statistics are based on crimes per capita for any city with a population of 75,000 or greater, which explains why Camden teeters on the scale with larger metropolitan areas such as Compton, Baltimore, St. Louis and Detroit, according to CQ Press.

City Council President Angel Fuentes plans to write a letter to President-elect Barack Obama asking him to help the 10 most dangerous cities in America, philly.com reported.

“Regardless of what number ranking we are, being in the top is not a good thing and it’s something law enforcement is working to correct,” said a spokesman for the Camden County Prosecutor’s Office.
