Bicyclist Killed in Hit-And-Run

Philadelphia Police are searching for the driver who killed a woman riding her bicycle Frankford early Sunday morning.

Investigators say it happened near the intersection of Torresdale and Adams Avenue around 12:30 a.m. A woman in her 20’s was riding her bike when the driver of a 1999 Ford Taurus hit her.

Nancy Nelson said she could hear the incident from inside her home.

“He was going fast. I said to my mother ‘somebody got hit’ and I came out expecting to help who ever was in the car and he [the driver] took off,” Nelson said.

“I did not know she was laying there until I happened to see her.”

The victim was taken to Hahnemann Hospital where she was pronounced dead.

Police recovered the car involved in the hit-and-run in a fenced parking lot in the 2100 block of Gillingham Street.
