Heartbreak and anger ran high at a vigil for Rasheem Butcher Thursday night.
The 13-year-old Coatesville, Pa. teen was killed Wednesday night after the stolen SUV he was driving flipped over, pinning him underneath.
"He did not deserve this," said Maureen Lopp, the boy's aunt.
Butcher's character was called into question following his death since he was underage, driving a stolen vehicle.
Sources told NBC Philadelphia the teen was charged in 2009 for shooting two people with a BB gun. They also said Butcher was attending a school specializing in special education.
"My nephew was a good boy," said Maureen Lopp. "He didn't deserve this. I don't care what you may read, he was a good boy."
Butcher's family and friends have alleged that police, who were pursuing the truck in a slow speed chase at the time of the crash, may have played a significant role in his death.
Lopp and hundreds more stood in front of a makeshift memorial for Butcher at 6th and Olive Streets, broken by grief.
"That car didn't hit a curb and flip, they killed that boy," Lopp said.
In a show of defiance over what happened, the vigil marched though the streets of Coatesville to the town's city hall. The building also houses the police department.
Pennsylvania State Police say there's no evidence to suggest that the Coatesville officers rammed or fired upon the stolen green Jeep Patriot. They took over the investigation after such allegations were levied against the officers.
"We will look at all aspects of this investigation to determine what happened," Trooper Corey Monte said.
The two officers involved in the pursuit were placed on administrative leave pending the outcome of the investigation.
