Some Bucks County cats were looking for your help after an accidental house fire left them homeless. In total 19 cats were without a home after the fire.

The fire was believed to have began in a Newtown, Pa. home after a cat jumped onto the gas stove and accidentally hit the burner, which ignited a cardboard box, according to reports.

The homeowner, a 57-year-old woman who was hoarding 28 cats in her home, jumped out of the second story window to escape the blaze. She suffered non-threatening injuries, according to Phillyburbs.

The SPCA rescued about two dozen cats. Unfortunately, five cats died and the others fled from the house before the rescue team could gather them, the Bucks County SPCA told NBC10 News.

Living conditions in the house were horrible with junk and dirt littering the floor, the SPCA explained. The home was not a healthy environment for the woman or her animals.

No charges were pressed against the woman because she surrendered all of the cats to the SPCA.

Now 19 cats were awaiting adoption and looking for love at the Bucks County SPCA. If you are looking to adopt consider giving these survivors a home.
