Phila. Councilman Discusses Philadelphia Autism Project Report

Councilman Dennis O’Brien unveiled The Philadelphia Autism Project Final Report Monday at a Philadelphia City Council hearing, discussing services to be readily available to individuals with autism.

The report provides information and resources families and individuals can use to deal with the bureaucracy of the health care system.

According to the project's website, PAautism.org, the goal was to identify "the most effective, efficient and comprehensive system of care for individuals with an Autism Spectrum Disorder and their families living in Philadelphia.

The report, which took two years to compile, has already received regional attention as recommendations from the report are being considered, Councilman O’Brien said.

According to the councilman, such a comprehensive report on autism has yet to be formalized on the municipal level.
