New Jersey Physicians Not Accepting New Medicaid Patients

Most New Jersey physicians are not accepting new Medicaid patients even as more people get the subsidized health insurance.

Data from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention says New Jersey was the only state in the country in 2013 where the majority of doctors were not planning to bring on more Medicaid patients.

NJ.com reports that the impact of that decision is not clear.

The Robert Wood Johnson Foundation has found that the volume of patients is increasing as Medicaid has expanded as part of state policy under President Barack Obama's health insurance overhaul.

But the increase has not been dramatic in New Jersey.
