Glitches in Online Health Exchange Created Under ACA

The online health exchange created under the Affordable Care Act is on course for its scheduled launch date on Oct. 1. But there might be a few glitches when the system is introduced to the public.

Obamacare glitches? Or par for the course? (NBC News)

  • The new health insurance exchange will launch on Oct. 1, but will not be able to tell people if they are eligible to join Medicaid instead of buying insurance.
  • Small businesses will also be able to shop on the new health insurance marketplace, but will not be able to enroll until November.
  • The Spanish-language version of the healthcare.gov website will not be ready to handle enrollments for at least a few weeks.
  • The health insurance exchanges are a key component of the Affordable Care Act. The exchanges open on Oct. 1, and starting Nov. 1, people will be able to enroll for coverage beginning on Jan. 1, 2014.

  • The survey showed that 29 percent of the public supports Obamacare, compared with 22 percent who support the law when called the Affordable Care Act.
  • And 46 percent of respondents oppose Obamacare and 37 percent oppose when it's referred to the ACA.
