I live in Alabama and a Madison, AL dental practice (3 dentists were involved) used this on me and our state dental board ALLOWS it to continue. <br><br>There is NO reason other than Sargenti Paste that caused my damage. It was immediate after the root canal and 4 doctors, including 2 in the practice said that they saw no sign of infection even though the owner of the practice was holding my xray up to the light saying &quot;I know you can't see it but it is there...there is an infection&quot;...or something similar to that. <br><br>I am left with a horrific burning lip and chin because of permanent nerve damage. When it was surgically removed from my jaw, the surgeon removed fiberous tissue around the nerve which is evidence of a chemical burn. If the dentists had told me the truth, instead of blaming it on a novacain injection (which is not considered malpractic), and leaving me to figure it out weeks later, I could have had that immediate surgery and I might be left numb and with a little pain, but not enough to leave me in the horrific pain I live in. Be ware and don't assume your dentist won't use it. They also have a 'white' powder that does not. Both of them contain formaldehyde.... in the powder formulation the formaldehyde is 6.5% and that is what is being used today. <br><br>They claim to have a clinical study going on that uses a new formulation that contains 4% liquid formaldehyde because the shelf life is years as opposed to months with the powder version (paraformaldehyde). I'd like to find some patients how have signed a study agreement, if there are any. With this new formulation they make the following claims (and I quote from their Winter 2006 newsletter) <br><br>&quot;By removing the paraformaldehyde from the powder we can now increase the radiopacity of the barium and bismuth and even more closely resemble gutta percha in the canal, once it is set. Also, we will be able to eliminate<br>the peanut oil, which was added to increase the setting time,and have a desirable working time, without the fear of patients who are allergic to peanuts.&quot;<br><br>Why would they care if Sargenti Paste looks like the industry standard, gutta percha, when set if they aren't attempting to cover it up? They already don't tell the patients or their treating physicians. I wonder how many of these dentists asked their patient if they were allergic to peanuts before they used it on them.
