Philly Woman, Allentown Man Die From Heat

5th death attributed to heat in Pa.

Officials say the scorching heat wave that pushed temperatures into triple digits claimed the lives of two more elderly people in Pennsylvania.

In Philadelphia, Health Department spokesman Jeff Moran says an 80-year-old woman was found dead Sunday in a north Philadelphia home. He says the death was confirmed Monday to have been due to heart disease and heat exposure. Her death was the fourth in the city due to the most recent heat wave and the seventh so far this season.

Earlier, the Lehigh County coroner's office said 86-year-old Llan Gacel died Saturday of hyperthermia after temperatures in his Allentown home topped 90 degrees.
