Genetic Blood Test May Predict Heart Disease

Scientests believe they are close to discovering a simple blood test to diagnose heart disease.

So far, 14 genes have been linked to heart disease, according to researchers at Duke University. The genes appear to signal changes in the body when heart arteries begin to become blocked.

In the future, doctors may be able to use a blood test for those genes in place of the echocardiograms, stress tests and angioplasties that currently are being used.
