Public health officials say lab tests have confirmed the first case of influenza in the state in the 2014-'15 flu season.
The Division of Public Health said Thursday that a 2-year-old Sussex County child tested positive for an influenza A strain.
Officials say the child was not hospitalized.
DPH urges all residents 6 months of age and older who have not been vaccinated against the flu to get vaccinated as soon as possible.
