Rutgers University says it surpassed its $1 billion goal during a 7-year fundraising campaign.
The "Our Rutgers, Our Future" campaign ended on Dec. 31 and was the largest in the history of the university, bringing in nearly $1.04 billion.
The money is going to a variety of projects, including $102.2 million to establish 449 new scholarships and fellowships for undergraduate and graduate students.
Another $27 million is going to establish 18 endowed faculty positions in several departments.
The biggest gift in the campaign was nearly $41 million from an anonymous donor.
