Pennsylvania Health System Buys Small Hospital

A Western Pennsylvania health system has reached a tentative agreement to buy a small hospital in the region.

Washington Health System officials declined to disclose details of the deal for the 49-bed Southwest Regional Medical Center. They expect to close the purchase July 1.

Washington Health says it plans to continue services at Southwest Regional and honor existing union contracts. The hospital has been part of RegionalCare since 2005.

He says a new name for the Waynesburg facility has not yet been determined.

Washington Health's 260-bed flagship hospital is located in Washington. The company has more than 40 off-site locations.
