Philadelphia-Based Urban Outfitters Offends Hindus Yet Again

Urban Outfitters has come under fire from the Hindu community yet again.

The Philadelphia-based retailer upset the Hindu community for the third time over the sale of a Hindu goddess jewelry stand.

"We urge Urban Outfitters to withdraw Hindu goddess jewelry stand, as goddess is meant to be worshipped and not for holding 'rings + things,' Rajan Zed, president of Universal Society of Hinduism, said on Twitter.

The retailer came under fire over its use of deity Lord Ganesha last year and in 2013 when it featured the deity on a duvet and on socks, which were eventually pulled from the company’s website.
