President Obama Nominates Philadelphia Judge to Federal Bench

President Obama on Thursday nominated a veteran Philadelphia Common Pleas Judge to fill a vacancy on the federal court. 

John Milton Younge, 60, who has spent the past 20 years as a judge, and three nominees from the western portion of the state, would fill all of the remaining vacancies on the U.S. District Court if confirmed by the U.S. Senate.

Younge, a Democrat, was first elected to the bench in 1995 and was retained in 2005 for a term that expires this year. Before joining the bench, Younge worked as executive director and then general counsel to the Philadelphia Redevelopment Authority from 1985 to 1995.
