The Cooper Medical School of Rowan University received a $1.75 million federal grant it will use to help address the looming shortage of primary-care physicians in the country.
The five-year-grant was awarded to the Camden medical school from the Department of Health and Human Services’ Health Resources and Services Administration through its primary care training and enhancement program.
Cooper plans to use the money to support its primary care training enhancement project – an ongoing initiative to change primary care education and training for medical students, residents and clinical faculty, along with students in nursing, nurse practitioner and physician assistant programs.
