Leigh Valley Health Network Cuts Jobs

The Lehigh Valley Health Network is eliminated dozens of positions and 34 workers are affected.

The Morning Call reports the hospital network is trying to find other positions for those workers, none of whom were "direct caregivers."

If other jobs can't be found for them, they'll get severance packages.

The hospital network said in January that it was consolidating some medical practices and that overlap would result in some job cuts. The newest cuts, announced Monday, came after Moody's downgraded its rating of $134 million in proposed bonds.

The network has hospitals in Allentown, Bethlehem, Hazleton and Salisbury Township and employs about 14,000 people, making it the largest employer in the Lehigh Valley.
