Mayor Michael Nutter has announced that 220 city employees will be fired as part of his city budget proposal.

Read the entire text of Nutter's budget speech.

Money will also be saved by not filling 600 current city positions that are currently unfilled.

Philadelphia city employees all must take an unpaid five-day furlough this year and next.

Mayor Nutter and his entire staff will also be taking pay cuts.

These manpower cutbacks are just part of the major cutbacks being made to every city department.
