Water Main Breaks in Blue Bell (Again)

Crews return to the scene of a water main break in Montgomery County after the pipe breaks again

Crews returned to a busy Montgomery County intersection Friday morning after a water main, patched on Thursday, broke again.

Friday's break happened near the same intersection of Swede and Township Line Roads in Blue Bell.

The same stretch of road -- Township Line Road between Swede and Arlington Roads -- was closed again around 7 a.m. Friday.

Crews continued to make repairs to an 8-inch section of cement fiber pipe that was put in back in the 1940s. It's fairly common for lines to break further down, like what appears the have happened here.

Crews valved out of the broken pipe to ensure no more water would pour out but the hole in the road remained.

Officials say no customers lost water usage during the incidents.

As of 11:30 a.m. Friday crew continued to work on a large hole in the pavement. They told NBC10 that they hoped the roadway would be open by 5 p.m.

Crews plan to return at a later date to make a permanent fix to the pipe.
