Center City residents received a rude and wet interruption to their Holiday shopping due to a water main break. It happened Saturday afternoon on 16th and Walnut. Water from a broken 12-inch main buckled the asphalt.

The break caused flooding in the popular shopping district. Walnut Street was closed between 15th and 17th streets. 16th street was also closed between Moravian and Locust Streets.
16th street as well as the 1500 block of Walnut have both reopened. The only closures are currently Walnut Street between 16th and 17th streets.
Officials say the 12-inch water main in the area has been shut down. Crews are currently making repairs. No property damage has been reported.
