A tree fell across the Schuylkill Expressway (I-76) Wednesday morning blocking two lanes of westbound traffic near Girard Avenue.

The fallen tree caused traffic to back up on I-76 heavily from the Vine Expressway to past the Girard Avenue exit.

Chopper 10 captured crews just before 9 a.m. on the scene as only the left lane of traffic moved by slowly.

No injuries were reported and it appears the tree didn’t hit any cars.

No word yet on what might have caused the large tree to fall.

The scene took a little more than an hour to clear.
