A man who tripped and fell onto the tracks at the Overbrook station in Philadelphia, was hit by a train and killed on Tuesday afternoon.
The victim, who was between 40 and 60 years old, was running on the platform according to a SEPTA spokesperson, when he tripped. He fell onto the track and was hit by the Amtrak 647 train traveling from Philly to Harrisburg.
Service on SEPTA's R5 or Thorndale-Paoli Regional Rail was shut down in both directions during a good bit of the rush hour. Both the inbound and outbound services were back on line by 6 p.m. However, there were no westbound stops between Overbrook and Haverford. The first WB station stop was Bryn Mawr.
