No Gun Found After Lockdown of Edison High School in Philly

Students and staff at Thomas Edison High School in Philadelphia were put on lockdown Wednesday as police investigated the report of a gun in the school.

A North Philadelphia high school was put on lockdown for about an hour Wednesday morning after someone allegedly spotted a guy with a gun in a school restroom. No gun was found.

Thomas Edison High School on West Luzerne Street was put on lockdown around 9:25 a.m. after 911 received a call from school security about a report of an armed male.

Police vehicles could be seen on the sidewalk in front of the building as police searched inside. Police spent about an hour searching for the gun but found no weapon, police on the scene said.

School returned to normal around 10:20 a.m. No injuries were reported.

More than 1,000 students in ninth to 12th grade attend Edison High. The school, along with the rest of the Philadelphia public schools, dismissed at noon Wednesday due to hot weather.
