School Buses Crash on Way to Great Adventure

NJ state troopers probe school bus accident that left more than 3 dozen students with minor injuries

State police say 39 children from a sports camp in the Poconos sustained minor injuries in an accident involving four school buses on Interstate 80 in New Jersey Thursday.

State Trooper Christopher Kay says it appears one bus rear-ended another around 11 a.m. and the other two buses sustained minor damage in Parsippany.

Kay says the buses were taking 9- and 10-year-olds from Lindenmeyer Sports Camp in Tannersville, Pa., to Six Flags Great Adventure amusement park in Jackson, N.J.

Kay says there were more than 100 passengers on the four buses.

Kay says none of the injuries was life-threatening. Kay says the children complained of pain or simple cuts and bruises.

The right lane of I-80 eastbound was closed for about 90 minutes as authorities investigated the crash, according to the Triboro Patch.

The cause of the accident is under investigation.
