A gas leak near SEPTA's Fern Rock station is causing big problems for nearby residents and commuters. NBC10's Jesse Gary has the story.
Subway service is back up on the Broad Street line and the Broad-Ridge Spur after a gas leak shut down SEPTA's Fern Rock station at 9th and Nedro this morning.
Crews found a natural gas leak underneath the tracks outside the station. That leak came from a four-inch natural gas line. Homes in the neighborhood were evacuated and passengers were put on busses while crews worked to reach the shutoff valve.
174 people, mostly SEPTA employees, who live across the street from the station, were evacuated as a precaution. They're back inside their homes now.
SEPTA says there passengers may see residual delays in the early afternoon.
Regional rail service is restored on the West Trenton, Warminster and Lansdale/Doylestown lines.
