The Phillies lost one of their owners Tuesday.
Longtime limited partner of the Phillies ownership team, J. Mahlon “Jim” Buck Jr. died suddenly Tuesday night, according to the Phillies.
He was 86.
“We are very sorry to learn of Jim Buck’s passing,” said Phillies President and CEO David Montgomery.
Montgomery shared fond memories of what Jim meant to the Phillies:
“Jim had been a part of the Phillies ownership group, with his brothers Whip and Bill, since December of 1981. His strength of character and steady leadership have been very important factors in the success of the Phillies today. Jim provided direction and consistent support for many of us in this organization. His wise counsel and warm friendship will be sorely missed.”
Montgomery also expressed condolences on behalf of the whole Phillies family to the Buck family:
