Stabbing Spree Leaves 1 Dead in NoLibs

Same man believed responsible for both attacks

A man went on a deadly stabbing spree on the outskirts of Northern Liberties Monday night.

His first victim was 56-year-old man Edward Prescot of Philadelphia. The suspect alleged stabbed Prescot in the chest at 7th and Brown Streets a bit before 6 p.m. The victim managed to stumble to a house on the corner where he died, police said.

The same man, who witnesses said appeared to be on drugs then allegedly stabbed a 31-year-old Temple Law student in the neck up the street at 7th Street and Fairmount Avenue, police said.

The victim, Sean McGuern, was listed in critical condition at Hahnemann Hospital.

The attacker, who was described as a black male wearing a black coat, remained on the loose Tuesday.
