Police Shoot Dog While Chasing Shooting Suspect




    Philadelphia Police opened fire on a pit bull while pursuing a shooting suspect Thursday morning.

    The incident played out around 11:15 a.m. near the corner of 4th and Diamond Streets in North Philly.

    Philadelphia Police said that someone shot a 27-year-old man and ran off. Officers gave pursuit on foot.

    While chasing the suspects, police say that a pit bull lunged at an officer. The officer opened fire on the dog leaving the pet badly hurt.

    The shooting suspect got away. The victim was rushed to Temple University Hospital in stable condition.

    Police didn't say who owns the animal and didn't know the exact condition of the dog.
