Missing Service Dog Reunited with Family

The emotional tale about a missing service dog ended happily Tuesday.

We first brought you the story of a heartbroken family looking for their missing service dog on NBC10 News @ 11 Monday.

Bobby and Kelly Barden, who live in Northeast Philadelphia with their two children, were searching for their lost dog Roxy. The pup, who was not wearing a collar when she went missing, was crucial to keeping a vigilant ear for the hearing impaired couple.

The 5-month-old boxer and bulldog mix helped the family complete everyday tasks -- like listening for the doorbell. The Bardens, whose children are two years old and eight months old, also rely on Roxy at night if their kids are crying or awake.

But after several harrowing hours, the family finally has some great news.

Thanks to an NBC10 viewer who saw the story, Roxy was found. She was sniffing at the trashcans at the home of viewer Mike Riley’s friends in Northeast Philly.

The family was happily reunited with Roxy Tuesday afternoon. And now she’s back with her family, safe and sound.
