Guard Tased During Delco Robbery

Alleged thieves caught on camera shocking Upper Darby store security guard, sources say

Two men reportedly Tased a security guard as they allegedly stole hundreds of dollars worth of clothes inside an Upper Darby department store Christmas Eve.

The alleged robbery and assault all happened at the Marshalls near the 69th Street Transportation Center.

Two men entered the store and began stuffing bags full of merchandise, according to police.

Store security called 9-1-1 after seeing them men stuffing pants and shirts into a shopping bag, cops said.

A security guard stepped in and tried to stop the alleged thieves as they tried to walk out the front door. A struggle ensued and one of the alleged crooks pulled out a Taser and shocked the guard -- pushing him back into the door, a moment caught on camera.

The unidentified guard was hit in the stomach but wasn't badly hurt, cops said.

"There's no conscious to them," said Police superintendent Michael Chitwood. "They could have really hurt that guy so who knows what they could do in another type of robbery."
