Woman, 19, Dies When NJ School Bus, Car Collide

Driver of sports car dies in collision with school bus. No kids were on board the bus.

A young woman died when her sports car collided with a school bus Tuesday evening in Burlington County.

Samantha Lucas, 19, died after her black sports car collided with a school bus driven by Damir Marjanovic, 49, around 5 p.m. on Eayrestown Road between Landing Street and Bridge Road in Lumberton, N.J.

No kids were on the bus, according to Lumberton Township Police.

SkyForce10 was over the scene. It appeared the front left bumper of the bus was pushed up against the right side of Lucas' heavily-damaged vehicle.

Rescuers got Lucas out of the sports car and transported her on a stretcher to a waiting state police medical helicopter around 5:45 p.m. The Southampton, N.J. resident later died at Cooper University Hospital, police said.

Marjanovic and an adult male aide who was also on the bus were treated and released from Virtua Memorial Hospital.

Police said that Lucas was driving southbound while Marjanovic drove northbound on Eayrestown Road when they collided but the exact details weren't released.

Police hope someone saw the crash. Anyone with information is asked to call Lumberton Police at 609-267-1111 or 609-267-8300.
