Three people are in the hospital after an accident on the Pennsylvania Turnpike involving several vehicles.

Police say a ladder fell off a vehicle traveling eastbound on the turnpike in Southampton Township. The ladder struck several cars and caused others to swerve out of the way.  In all, seven vehicles were involved in the accident.

Police say three people were injured in the crash. One person was taken to Abington Hospital while two people were taken to Frankford Torresdale.

Lanes are currently getting by but there is a three mile backup.
