Volunteers Find Human Remains in Cooper River During Spring Cleanup in Pennsauken

An investigation is underway after human remains were found in the Cooper River in Pennsauken, New Jersey Saturday.

Over 100 volunteers with United by Blue were participating in a spring cleanup event along the Cooper River on the 2900 block of Admiral Wilson Boulevard. Officials say one volunteer reached down into the mud near the water and picked up what he believed was a bottle. It was actually a human skull however, according to officials. They also discovered several bones inside the water.

Police and detectives were called to the scene and investigators are currently working on identifying the victim.
