The 18-year-old victim, Kevin Maldonado, was trying to get into a car parked on Old York Road near Luzerne Street around 9 p.m. when he was struck by a white Toyota Prius, sending the teen 30 feet down the road and into a parked minivan, said Philadelphia Police Chief Inspector Scott Small. The driver then stopped on the 1300 block of West Pike Street, exited the vehicle and fled on foot, according to investigators.[[381466641, C]]

"I don't know why people just don't stop or come back... in many instances you're leaving a person there to die and its so sad and tragic, it's ridiculous," said Philadelphia Police Commissioner Richard Ross.
