Guilty Verdict in Casino Carjack-Murder Case

the victim's family told NBC10's Ted Greenberg they were grateful for the verdict

A jury has convicted an Atlantic City man of murder and other charges in the fatal carjacking of a customer -- Martin Caballero -- from a casino parking garage in 2010.

"It felt better because my husband [can] rest in peace," Caballero's widow, Libia Martinez told NBC10's Ted Greenberg.

Greenberg was the only local reporter to talk to the victim's family as they left the courthouse. They told him they are grateful to the jury for delivering the verdict they'd been praying for.

"We're all happy with the conclusion the jury came to today. We're all ecstatic, Chrisitan Martinez, the victim's step-son, told Greenberg.

Craig Arno was found guilty of murdering Caballero of North Bergen after he and his ex-girlfriend Jessica Kisby cornered the victim in the parking garage of the Trump Taj Mahal.

Arno had no visible reaction to the verdict. On thier fifth day of deliberations, jurors sided with the prosecution's case. Kisby, who pleaded guilty in February, testified against Arno and described how Caballero was stabbed to death at a rural Atlantic County farm and his car later set on fire. Arno even took the stand himself, during which he admitted to burning the car, but claimed he had nothing to tdo with the murder of Caballero.

"As much as it won't bring him back, we're glad that Craig Arno is going to be spending his life in jail. He won't be able to hurt anyone else," his step-son told Greenberg.

Arno's lawyer said they're disappointed by the verdict and expect to appeal. Arno was found not guilty of only one charge, related to the attempted murder of a Kmart security guard days after the homicide. He'll be sentenced late next month and will likely spend the rest of his life in prison.
