Woman Shot in Face After Answering Knock at the Door

Philadelphia Police searched for two men after a woman got shot in the face after answering the door early Monday.

Gunfire rang out shortly after 4 a.m. along the 4100 block of Franklin Street in the Hunting Park section of the city.

“We had a woman open the door to her house and she was shot point-blank in the face,” Said Philadelphia Police Capt. Drew Techner.

Police rushed the woman, who is in the early 20s, to Temple University Hospital where police hoped she could pull through considering she was struck with a small-caliber round. Family members said she was able to talk while being treated.

Following the shooting, firefighters searched rooftops where they found a resident who fled the scene but that man wasn't considered one of the suspects.

The search for the shooter(s) continued Monday. Techner said they fled in an unknown direction.
