Chesco Hoarder Keeps Dozens of Dogs, Cats in Flea Infested Room: SPCA

Woman claims she loves her pets, meant them no harm

The Chester County SPCA swarmed a West Caln Township home Tuesday afternoon to find two-dozen dogs and six cats living in filth inside a small room.

The pets, including at least 24 dogs, were found living a small room reeking of urine and feces, according to the SPCA.

Animal officers responded to the home after receiving a tip about the hoarding.

They found Yorkies, Chihuahuas and Dachshunds living in deplorable conditions -- many of the dogs were thin and infected with fleas, officials said.

Some of the pets were terrified -- hiding under beds, the SPCA said.

The dogs were taken out of the house, as were six cats, according to the SPCA.

The pets' owner, Wynne Buyers, was heartbroken and didn’t want to let the dogs go -- she kissed each animal as it was removed from the home.

"Everyone who knows me, knows how much I love these dogs and take care of them," Buyers said.

Buyers showed NBC Philadelphia veterinarian papers for the pets and she claimed they weren't a problem for anyone.

“They’re not outside, they don’t bark and make noise,” Buyers said.

"I want my animals back... They're my life."

Despite her shows of affection for her pets, Buyers is being called a hoarder and faces animal cruelty charges, according to the SPCA.

Since she had more than 25 animals in her house, Buyers should have applied for a breeder’s license, officials said.
