Jogger Sexually Assaulted in Wilmington

Victim told police a man hit her with something before assaulting her

A man allegedly attacked and sexually assaulted a woman as she jogged in a quiet Wilmington neighborhood Wednesday night, according to Wilmington Police.

The incident happened around 5:30 in an alleyway off the 1100 block of N. Rodney Street, cops said.

The victim told police she was out for a jog in that area when a man struck her -- possibly with a blunt object -- dragged her into the alley and assaulted her.

The woman was eventually able to get away and call for help. She was treated at Christiana Hospital.

The alleged attacker fled the scene on foot. He is described as a white man in his 40s who is between 5-foot-10 and 6-foot tall. He was wearing a black sweater, black pants and a black scarf at the time of the assault, according to police.
