Decomposing Body Found in Center City

Investigators suspect man was shot a few days ago

A woman was being questioned Monday after a man was found shot his body decomposing inside a Center City apartment.

The body was found inside the second floor of a building on the 200 block of S 13th Street (between Locust and Spruce Streets) after residents complained of a foul odor in the building, according to investigators.

Police sources tell NBC10's Deanna Durante that the man was shot and beaten -- found by a maintenance worker in a chair in the living room. He also had defensive wounds on his arms.

It's possible the man died late last week, police said.

Police sources said a woman was being questioned and that the incident was possibly domestic in nature.

Homicide detectives remained on the scene Monday afternoon. Residents weren't allowed back in the building as the investigation continued.

As of 5 p.m. no charges were filed.
