Missing Swimmer's Body Found

Emergency crews found the body of a missing Berks County swimmer around 5 p.m. on Friday.

Police say that on Thursday, Samuel Burlacu, 23, of Reading, Pa. jumped into Blue Marsh Lake in Penn Township, Pa. and didn't come up to the surface. Authorities are unsure whether Burlacu jumped in from a cliff or a bridge.

Burlacu struggled in the water before going under, witnesses told authorities.

Just last Wednesday, Sherac Nerjuste, 15, died after jumping into the same lake. Police say that Nerjuste was using a rope and jumped about 20 feet off shore. His body was later recovered in about 18 feet of water.

With temps reaching a record 106 degrees Friday, folks in Reading turned to lakes like Blue Marsh to cool off. No one should ever go in the water if they don't know how to swim.
