A 34-year-old Claymont woman is dead after a single-car crash Saturday afternoon along 1-95 northbound of Marsh Road in Wilmington, Delaware.

State Troopers say Michelle Johnson was driving a 1999 Honda Passport along I-95 northbound in the left lane around 12:15 p.m. when the car’s right rear tire tread separated from the tire. Johnson lost control of the car and traveled off the west side of the roadway into a dirt embankment. The car rolled over several times landing on its wheels in the center grass median.

Johnson was ejected from the car and suffered multiple traumatic injuries, according to police. She was transported to Christiana Hospital Trauma Center where she was pronounced dead.

A 20-year-old woman and three children were also injured in the crash. A 2-year-old boy is in serious condition at Al DuPont Hospital.

Police say none of the occupants were wearing seat belts.

The northbound lanes of I-95 were closed for three hours.
