Police Investigate Center City Sex Assault

Woman claims man attacked her early Friday

A woman claims she was sexually assaulted in a Center City alley near many popular Philadelphia bars early Friday morning.

The alleged attack happened after the woman was accidentally locked out of a bar on Stock Exchange Place (between Chestnut and Samson Streets) near 16th Street around 1:15 a.m., according to Philadelphia Police.

The woman, who is in her 20s, says she was sexually assaulted between some dumpsters.

She was taken to the hospital for examination, cops said.

Police Special Victims Unit is investigating the case. They say they are speaking to a man. No charges were filed against the man and he wasn't being called a suspect by police.

Investigators say the man's two friends were the other men originally reported as being involved in this case. But police were only focusing on the one man, they said.

The location of the alleged incident is near many local bars.
