Elderly Driver Hurt After Car Slams Into Northeast Philly Restaurant

An elderly man is in the hospital after his car slammed into a Northeast Philly deli and restaurant, barely missing a woman who was sitting inside.

An 86-year-old man was driving along the 1700 block of Grant Avenue Tuesday around 4:30 p.m. when he somehow lost control of his vehicle. The man's car crashed into Steve Stein's Famous Deli & Restaurant.

Workers at the restaurant told NBC10 that no one inside the deli was injured, though the car almost hit a woman who was sitting down.

The elderly man suffered non-life-threatening injuries in the crash and was taken to Aria Torresdale Hospital. Officials continue to investigate the cause of the accident.
